Standard Membership is $6,000 (cdn) for a lifetime membership
Normally we do not allow a single lump sum payment unless the individual is well known to the members of Taosphere. We prefer a getting to know you stage and in relfection of this the President sits down with each potential member and discusses a payment plan.
The standard so far has been $50 (cdn) per month for a period of ten years. This ensures that should a member decide that they have lost interest they have not invested a great sum of money. In addition if financial issues arise membership payments can be suspended and renewed at a later date.
Also, Taosphere is not about money. Because of this we will accept barter and volunteering in lieu of membership payments. Unfotunately we cannot just accept every bartered item or volunteerism we will need to sit down and develop a plan.
Over time the price of membership has changed. This is to reflect that those members who have been with Taosphere longer have worked very hard and provided thousands of hours of volunteer work to help Taosphere grow. In the future membership prices will rise again however we protect members by fixing membership price when a members signs up.
This means that someone who signs up for membership at $6,000 paid over a certain period of time would still only pay that $6,000 even if membership fees increased to $12,000
Standard members are part owners of Taosphere Education Society and receive a number of benefits that are detailed in the membership package. With our current expansion the number of benefits to members continue to increase. The only benefit that standard members do not receive is the annual vote.
There are many members of Taosphere who have worked incredibly hard to make the organization what it is today. All members joined Taosphere in good faith, believing that the board of directors and especially the founders would ensure that the long term goals of Taosphere were achieved. Taosphere has a responsibility to guarantee that other groups cannot take over and dictate changes to the long term goals that our members have worked so hard for.
Because of our commitment to members we require a commitment from those who wish to be voting members. Voting members do not receive any benefits that standard members do not receive. The only difference between a voting and standard membership is that a voting member receives a single vote at the annual general meeting. This is the same number of votes that the founding members and board members receive.
